Mtentu Camp sits proudly on the northern bank of the Mtentu River, in the heart of northern Mpondoland — one of the last truly wild stretches of South Africa’s coastline.
The terrestrial area is known as the Pondoland Centre of Endemism, the second richest floristic region in southern Africa after the Cape Floristic Region. It hosts at least 1,800 plant species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world.
Add the 290+ bird and 50+ mammal species and you can see why this place is very special indeed.
Mtentu river is the Northern border to Mkambati Nature Reserve - Africa's premier coastal game and plant reserve which includes 7720 hectares of protected land.
Only four hours from Durban King Shaka Airport and two hours from Margate Airport, Mtentu is both accessible and untamed — the perfect base for adventure on the Wild Coast.
We offer four comfortable family glamp tents each sleeping up to four guests (two adults and two children) + 2 dome canvas tents for 2 pax each. Our tents blend rustic charm with comfort — wake to birdsong, breathe in ocean air, and fall asleep under a canopy of stars.
